The Amazing Crappie Fishing Artificial Baits! Crappie Fishing Secrets #2
By Mark Fleagle

Crappie fishing jigs

If you are ready to step up your crappie fishing you need to learn how to fish with crappie artificial baits. When you only fish live bait such as minnows for crappie you are limiting yourself to only one of the food sources crappie tend to eat on a daily and seasonal basis. If you learn to imitate the crappie's natural food sources using crappie artificial baits you will be a more consistent crappie fisherman, and your average catch will increase drastically. If you select the correct bait and find the crappie they will hit. If they are on the feed you will catch them one right after the other.

You should have a variety of different crappie fishing artificial baits in your tackle box, remember you are trying to imitate the crappie's food source the day you go fishing. Please feel free to use our suggested list of crappie bait selections. Half the battle of selecting artificial baits is knowing what to buy.

#1 You can purchase your crappie fishing jigs on line, at large department stores or at your local bait shop. You may pay a bit more at the local bait shop but you can also get great local tips of what crappie artificial have been working best. One key factor when you look for crappie fishing jigs at any of the locations is to select jigs in the weight sizes of 1/32oz to 1/8oz.I personally use jigs in the 1/32 to 1/8 once size.Crappie fishing jigs have most of their weight concentrated in the jig head. Also, jigs are packaged and marked with there weights and sometimes the hook size.

#2 You will need to have an assortment of crappie fishing jigs. Your first jig to look for is commonly called the "curly tail jig", remember look for sizes from 1/32oz to 1/8oz jig.The curly tail is made from plastic. To see what a curly tail jig looks like do a google search "curly tail jig" you will find plenty of pictures for reference. The curly tail jig is very inexpensive and is one of the most commonly used crappie fishing jigs.

#3 Your next crappie jig to look for is called the "marabou jigs" I would recommend you have and assortment these jigs in your crappie fishing artificial baits list also. You can select marabou crappie jigs in a variety of shapes weights and colors, but remember you want to select a weight range of 1/32oz to 1/8oz. You will notice that the jig head of the marabou crappie jig is similar to the curly tail jig. The marabou jig has hair like material for the body and tail instead of plastic. Again, to see a picture of this jig just do a google search.

#4 You should have some "weedless spinner baits" in your tackle box.Weedless spinner baits are a little more complicated to select. The weedless spinner bait can have a variety of different crappie fishing jigs attached. The majority of them will have either a "curly tail jig" or "marabou jig attached.Again, do a Google search using "weedless spinner baits" to see a picture of the crappie artificial bait.

#5 Your next crappie fishing artificial bait you need to have is called a "willow leaf blade" This is actually a crappie jig attached to a "willow blade" The best colors to select are "Colorado" and "gold. I would recommend you have a couple of these in your tackle box.

Fishing Tips, Rigs and help?
I live in Clearwater, Florida and I fish all around the area,I'm fairly new at fishing it was just something to do with my dad but it now become a addiction I just love to fish even though I don't catch anything most the time. I caught Spotted Trout and catfish stuff like that I just really wanna get the more serious for fun.Theres one place that I like to fish but just can't catch much fish there. Its a pier that starts out at a sea wall and if you walk up and down the wall theres rocks and you would see Snook, Sheepshead, and some Cobia, I think it has snapper and grouper and black drum because it near a big overpass. Its loaded with bait fish (pinfish, mullet, and anchovies). I use live shrimp for bait but when I cast out I always end up get tagged by little bait fish. I've use carolina rig, bottom rig, and I use a popping cork with that I've caught a mackerel there. Can you please give me advice or constructive criticism to help me target thoughs fish im more wanting to know how to catch big sheepshead there. The Piers about 4ft wide and 15-20ft long
