Located at the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula lies Cabot San Lucas, Mexico. Once devastated by a hurricane in 1939 Cabot San Lucas
is now a retiree's paradise and a favorite port of call for cruise ships to Mexico. A famous "hot spot" for tourist, it is know for its sports fishing. This sleepy little town is
filled with high rise hotels, condominiums, night clubs, gift shops and expensive restaurants.
Upon arrival ships anchor off Cabo town, and from there it's a 10
minute walk to the center of town. An open market across from the pier has a wide variety of souvenirs that are available for purchase. In the center of town you will
find small galleries selling local arts and crafts.
Sight seeing attractions in the Cabo include a rocky peninsula called "Lands End" and a arch rock formation
known as "El Arco" not to mention and undersea waterfall of sand that cascade over the edge of the canyon floor below it. The bay there itself has been declared a
sanctuary for marine life and an underwater park. Pelican Rock at the entrance to the harbor has a variety of tropical fish shoals making it divers and snorkelers
delight. Picture taking is a must and the place to take them is "El Arco" for views that will long be remembered. Other sightseeing trips can be planned at the tour
office on board ship.
Dining in Cabo can be expensive, with seafood being the top item on the menu but there are a few fast food restaurants available.
When dining on shore be careful of where you eat, because if you have an overly sensitive stomach, it may be wise to drink only bottled water and other beverages
using no ice while you are ashore. Cabot San Lucas is a great port to call on while cruising Mexico and the Baja Peninsula.
